Here is the begining of my new project a Thompson Coilgun Handheld Pistol, the plan. Everything will be controlled by 3 switch's included are compressor, 4kv transformer, solenoid, and in the future a laser sight. The Thompson Coilgun will be using 1600Joules 4000v 200mfd pulse grade capacitor, which I hope to achieve greatly above 1500ft/sec with.

The starting step the way this coilgun model works is, first the Arc Gap is compressed, ssecond the 4kv transformer is turned on and the capacitor is charged, last the phneumatic solenoid release's the compression in the Arc Gap firing the projectile.

I am currently in the process right now of putting everything together in a 1ft long x 3" diameter pvc tubing.
